| Review: I attended a preview screening of this film you will enjoy London.If Richard Curtis (writer, director) above as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually then you will likely enjoy the pleasant time travel comedy drama with a sense of irony time travel was feeling this before.But that more of the same feeling is bad, thanks mainly to the excellent performances of the cast and more importantly, to apply his elegant new twist, a time travel plot device. Indeed, the travel time there in abundance and very good fun as employed with incentives typically, but with ingenuity of our main protagonist, a stereotypical loser playing with absolute charm and goofiness with Domhall Gleeson. His use of power is very useful sometimes fun but not your typical, it will change your past Backfire moral message. In most time travel movies, change events in the past have usually been painted as a negative impact but here, for the most part, the film ultimately promote its benefits. The premise of time travel has some specific rules that beautifully serves the story, but if you think too careful in some scenes, you can find a number of shortcomings minutes to act to give the cause and effects that could be done more neatly if extra attention is paid. The moral message, but you have to wait until the end to get what it is because it is not as obvious as the film rolls. You might suspect that this will happen in a few ways as you watch the movie, but they dont and you may be wondering, whats the story but let it roll and then the whole point of coming to the end. However, waiting for the end leads to my first bit of criticism. This movie clocks through just over 2 hours and was a little too long. There are quite a few points in the film, and I feel it could have been trimmed. I think it might have been at least 10 minutes shorter.There a Stalwart Richard Curtiss familiar faces from the previous films made guest appearances with the always amazing Bill nigy meriting an anchor role with his presence a high quality standard. Its also nice to see one of our great British actors who had passed away recently made a surprise appearance and perhaps a little strange for the last time ... or whether the filmmakers will travel back in time to shoot his part? Rachel McAdams wonderful as the love interest and believable as a woman treated for a time value. Im not a great fan of Richard Curtis previous films, but this movie swim along with so charming, the vagaries of the English middle class, romance and lovely tread lightly flowing steady beat from start to finish. This is not a riotous comedy, is not excited, or adventure, or even any suspense film that stretches to the final act. His journey through life time of our passengers, sometimes funny, charming, poignant with time travel premise is very clever and enjoyable. There is certainly a great date movie too.8/10 |
