| Review: Gangs of New York brings us back to a time when America was young, New York was a divided country. Those who thought they were Native Americans did not want immigrants to come to your great country, creating hatred between the groups throughout the city, where many of them landed. In the story, we see how the city is run by a man with a cutting William (Bill the Butcher, played wonderfully Daniel Day-Lewis), the man most feared and respected of the five Points.Leonardo DiCaprio plays Amsterdam Vallon, who as a boy saw Bill Butcher kills his father in a regular major battles. Now an adult, he returns to find the point of the Bill virtually ruling the roost. It is in good hand bills and eventually becoming the number one man, all at the same time building their parents have a lot of revenge.While gratuitous violence and gore, the film does a great job portraying life as it was in New York. You can immerse yourself in the moment of the movie, and even though the scene is not long before our time, you do not need a book to figure out how to have been carried out and that all life was like.Ive never been a big fan of DiCaprio, but his efforts here (along with its execution Catch me if you can) do a little shaken my opinion. He's good as Amsterdam, and believable in their actions and expressions. Daniel Day-Lewis just phenomenal, as Bill the Butcher and really should have won the Oscar for Best Actor. In general, I feel that it was the best film in 2002 and was actually stolen Awards.8 Academy 10. |
